The Human and Magik Series
At its heart, The Human and Magik is not a story about heroes saving the world.
It is a story about building one worth saving.
The series begins when Edward Murray, an ordinary man from early twenty-first century Earth, is pulled into a medieval world of kingdoms, dragons, and magic. Instead of becoming a conqueror, king, or chosen hero, Edward chooses a different path. Armed with modern knowledge and a practical mindset, he learns Sigil Magik and spends centuries teaching, building, and improving the lives of ordinary people.
What follows is a sweeping saga spanning generations, kingdoms, and eventually worlds.
Through apprentices such as Arnold, frontier founders such as Miadamma and Franklin Holt, farmers such as Wendal, and modern practitioners such as Roger, the series explores how knowledge spreads through society and how small improvements accumulate into civilization.
The books follow the rebuilding of a nearly abandoned School of Magery, the founding of frontier settlements, the rescue and education of abandoned feral children, the growth of trade networks, the spread of practical magical knowledge, and the challenges of preserving wisdom across centuries.
Unlike traditional fantasy where magic is primarily used for battle, Sigil Magik is a tool for farming, construction, education, transportation, healing, mapping, engineering, governance, and community building. Throughout the series, the central philosophy remains constant:
Power exists to serve. Knowledge exists to be shared responsibly. Civilization is built one useful improvement at a time.
As centuries pass, the influence of Edward's teachings reaches ever farther. Ancient mysteries emerge. Lost civilizations awaken. Forgotten knowledge resurfaces. Yet the series never loses sight of its core belief that meaningful progress comes from competence, responsibility, compassion, and perseverance rather than destiny or conquest.
Ultimately, The Human and Magik is the story of how ordinary people use extraordinary knowledge to build homes, communities, institutions, and legacies that endure long after they are gone.

The Human and Magik Series

One ordinary man. One medieval world. One chance to build something better.
When a man from the early 2000s is torn from Earth by magik and cast into a world of castles, kingdoms, and dragons, survival seems impossible.
Until he learns Magik.
Building a new life turns out to be easier than expected. Building a good life is far harder.
Armed with knowledge from another world, powerful magik, and the friendship of a dragon, he sets out to create the kind of world he would actually want to live in. Not through conquest. Not through destiny. But through thousands of small improvements, hard work, and helping one person at a time.
A story of craftsmanship, community, progress, and perseverance.
World-building from the ground up—where the greatest adventure isn't saving the world, but building one worth saving.
